The New Zealand Model Railway Guild provides a link between model railway enthusiasts with a focus on modelling the New Zealand prototype.
The New Zealand Model Railway Guild Inc is the oldest and perhaps the largest model railway club in the country. It has always, since its inception in 1947, been a 'club without walls'. NZMRG membership is spread across all of New Zealand and today across the entire world, with members in unexpected places such as Argentina, Germany and Japan as well as the more usual Australia and the United Kingdom.
NZMRG (the Guild) is a club which has always focussed on modelling the New Zealand prototype, whether the government or public railway, or the myriad of bush, coal and other private railways that have been constructed in New Zealand over the last 150 years.
The Guild publishes the N Z Model Railway Journal four times a year. The Journal contains articles about modelling New Zealand's railways along with plans and drawings, photographs and historical notes. See details of the origins of the Journal here.
The Guild has also developed a comprehensive range of plans of New Zealand railway prototypes. There is a number of plan series and these are further detailed in our Shop section of the website.
The website is an extension of the Guild's activities. It is a place to register, a place to purchase plans and back issues, a place to find more background information to some of the articles in the Journal and it will become a forum for members to meet and exchange their ideas, their thoughts, their plans.
